Quick Start for existing sellers: your first profitable find in 15 minutes

Already selling on Amazon.com on the Professional plan? Skip the Amazon chapters. This page takes you from signing up to a lead you'd be happy to buy in about 15 minutes, then points you to the chapters that make you faster. If you haven't signed up yet, start your 7-day free trial first.

New to Amazon? Use the Quick Start for new sellers instead.

1. Connect Amazon (2 minutes)

  • At sign-up, choose the US marketplace and click Authorise with Amazon >> (the app uses British spelling) to connect your Amazon.com seller account (Chapter 2).
  • On the Account page, check the Amazon Authorisation panel shows Authorised. If your seller account is brand new, Amazon can take up to 5 days to let tools like ArbiSource connect.

2. Set broad starter filters (3 minutes)

On Account → Settings, leave Additional Costs blank for now (there's no sales tax setting in the US version). Then open Account → Global Filters:

  • Profit and ROI: the lowest you'd accept on an otherwise perfect product.
  • Total Sellers minimum: 2.
  • Match Confidence: around 70%.
  • BSR: leave fully open, and don't set a sales minimum yet.
  • Exclusions: leave the defaults on (Exclude Results with Missing Fees, Exclude Results Without BSR, Exclude Out of Stock, Exclude Mismatches). Leave Only show EAN/UPC matches and Exclude When Amazon on Listing unchecked for now.
  • Click Save Filter Set and call it "Starter".

The reasons behind each setting are in Chapter 3. If you see few results later, Chapter 8 finds the cause in minutes.

3. Add a Keepa button (1 minute)

  • On any result, click the + icon at the top of the column of icons on the right, and add https://keepa.com/#!product/1-{ASIN}. Every result now opens in Keepa in one click.

4. Start a Store Scan, then browse the Vault while it runs (3 minutes)

  • Go to Scans → Store, pick one retailer you know, and select a few categories from its Clearance group.
  • Leave Filters on Account Filters and the freshness settings on their defaults, check Email me when scan is complete, and click START SCAN.
  • While it runs, open the Vault and pick a store. The Vault shows results ArbiSource has already found, so there's no waiting (Chapter 4).

5. Read one result properly (3 minutes)

Pick a result with a good deal score and check:

  • The header: Profit, ROI, BSR (with BSR % in brackets) and who holds the Buy Box.
  • Fees: hover to see the breakdown. Red fees mean Amazon's fee data is missing.
  • The past-performance table: is the 90-day average Sell Price still profitable, or only today's price?
  • Match Confidence (or EAN/UPC Match) at the bottom, and the two photos side by side.
  • Estimated Sales and Confirmed Sales, and any warnings such as IP Status or Hazmat/DG.

6. Check you can sell it (1 minute)

  • On Pro or Premium, click CHECK RESTRICTIONS at the top of the Vault and switch on Remove results I can't sell. Your scans check restrictions as they run.
  • On Essentials, click CHECK next to Restricted on the result.

Chapter 9 explains what each plan checks.

7. Confirm the history in Keepa (1 minute)

  • Click your Keepa button. Has the price held up for the last few months, and does the product sell steadily (Chapter 31)?

8. Save it and decide (1 minute)

  • Click Add to Sourcing List. Vault and scan results are deleted after 7 days; the Sourcing List keeps them.
  • If you use SellerAmp, click the SAS button to open the product there (Chapter 16).
  • Run the four Lead Check questions: Match, Money, Momentum and Safety. All green, Buy. One amber, Test-buy. Two or more ambers, Watch. Any red, Pass (Chapter 20).

That's your first find. When the scan email arrives, do the same with its results.

  1. Chapter 10: Your daily and weekly ArbiSource routine, so ArbiSource becomes part of every sourcing day.
  2. Chapter 5: The Vault and Price Drops and Chapter 6: Store Scans and Category Scans.
  3. Chapter 17: Sourcing strategies and Chapter 18: Getting the most from your plan.
  4. Chapter 21: Worked examples in ArbiSource, to see the whole process on real leads.
