Your first 90 days

A simple checklist to pace your first three months. No challenges or gimmicks, just habits that build on each other. Times are a guide; do what fits your week.

Before day 1

  • Your Amazon.com Professional seller account is live, or you've decided when you'll open it (Chapter 3)
  • You've chosen sole proprietor or LLC, or booked time with a CPA (Chapter 2)
  • You know you'll choose the $ (US) marketplace when you sign up to ArbiSource

Day 1

Days 2 to 7 (while your trial runs)

  • Run a Store Scan, and try Price Drops if you're on Pro or above (Chapter 11, Chapter 12)
  • Switch on auto refresh (the refresh icon, Enable Auto Refresh) on the Sourcing List, and set a couple of Alerts if your plan has them
  • Run restriction checks and read Chapter 22
  • Complete a full Lead Check on about 10 leads (Chapter 19)
  • Place your first Test-buys (small quantities) on the leads that pass, and log them, sales tax included (purchase log, Chapter 25)
  • Choose monthly or annual before your trial ends; annual gets you 2 months free and is charged in full when the trial ends (Your free trial)

Weeks 2 to 4

  • Keep sourcing and placing Test-buys, and buy more of anything that's selling well
  • Prep, label and send your first Send to Amazon shipment (Chapter 26, Chapter 27)
  • Note Amazon's payout rhythm: funds available 7 days after delivery (DD+7), on a cycle that's typically 14 days (Chapter 29)

Weeks 5 to 8

  • Compare what Amazon received with what you sent
  • Set price floors, and try Automate Pricing on a few SKUs (Chapter 28)
  • Download your first settlement report and update the sales side of your records
  • Keep up the weekly Account Health check (Chapter 29)
  • Ask your CPA anything that's unclear, especially your home state's sales tax rules and whether resale certificates make sense for you (Chapter 6)

Weeks 9 to 13

  • Review your real buys against your Lead Check notes: what sold, at what price, and how fast
  • Optional: follow a few Watch leads in a paper-trading log alongside your buying, to sharpen your judgment (Chapter 21)
  • Add winners to Replenishables if you're on Pro or above (Chapter 30)
  • Consider one new route only: wholesale, A2A, or a VA seat through a Custom Plan
  • If the busy late-year season is coming, read Chapter 32 and check Seller Central for cut-off dates and peak fees
  • Check in with your CPA about estimated tax payments and the records they'll want at year end (Chapter 2.2)

Keep going

Come back to chapters as questions come up. The handbook is meant to sit next to your weekly routine, not to be read once and closed.
